HIGHLINE CANAL – WRITER’S VISTA PARK – (SOUTH OF MINERAL AVENUE)
In partnership with AdventHealth Oncology Services, we present "Walk with Us". In the spirit of Halloween, come dressed up in your favorite costume!
Join Blaine, Jan and Cal with the AdventHealth cancer team for a Walk into Wellness at the High Line Canal. Team members may include a surgeon, medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, genetic counselor, social work, nurses, registered dietician, and/or physical therapy. This is an opportunity to Walk with Us and ask general questions of the cancer team.
This segment of the Highline Canal Trail offers great sunset views across McLellan Reservoir in addition to nice birding opportunities along the cottonwood-lined canal trail. There is an asphalt spur trail that offers a great view of tree-rimmed lake and the foothills all the way to Mount Blue Sky (formerly Mt. Evans). I’m guessing this is the “vista” from which the park drew its name. This side trail has a couple small hills that are very doable with wheelchairs especially with some assistance. The main canal trail is dirt and pea-gravel surfaced that is very doable with a wheelchair. This section is a beautiful winding trail that also offers views of the reservoir and mountains.
