Join Ed Robb and Stephanie Lenkey for a moderate hike to Pavilion Point from the Waldorf Mine trailhead, along the old Argentine Central Railroad grade, near Silver Plume. The trail is mostly in the trees, rocky in some places, climbs steadily at a gentle to slightly moderate rate. At Pavilion Point, site of an old restaurant/hotel/station of some sort, we’ll snack then head back down.

The hike will be approximately 6 miles, +/- about .2 miles, about 830' elevation gain. We’ll meet at the Wooly Mammoth Park & Ride, section CC to carpool, and leave at 7:30am, to be at the trailhead by 8:30am. Plan to pay your driver $5 for gas.

MEETING PLACE: Wooly Mammoth P&R (approximately 18560 US-40). Take I70 west to the first exit past C470. This is the exit to Red Rocks. After making the exit you will want to be in the middle lane to turn right onto CO93.  After turning right on CO93, immediately turn left onto US40, staying in the left lane. Follow US40 south and take the second left turn into the park & ride. Meet us in section CC, on the right. We’ll leave at 7:30am so be there early enough to be ready to go by then.

The Waldorth Mine trailhead is at the end of the access road at Silver Plume, south side of I70. Exit I70 at Silver Plume, turn left (south) and go under the freeway, then turn right onto the access road. Go to the end of the access road. Use the following Google Plus code to get to the trailhead.
