Have you ever been to Silver Plume? Now is your chance to explore the hidden gem of i70. Join Katherine for a 4 mile, 1200 elevation gain hike up to the Clifford Griffin Memorial- a 12 ft marble obelisk perched on a cliff high above the valley. The trail is mostly packed dirt and rock switchbacks through aspen forests before becoming narrower and more exposed near the top. There will be amazing views of the valley and surrounding peaks, aspens, a waterfall, old mines, and of course the century old obelisk . This is a challenging trail. Starting elevation is 9,110ft, gains 600 vertical ft per mile, finishing elevation is 10,400ft.
There is no parking at the trailhead, parking is available on Main St. or at the Train Station
We will meet at Plume Coffee in Silver Plume at 7 AM sharp.
