Join Irene for a new SOCO location walk and enjoy fall colors and camaraderie. The loop around John Griffin Park utilizes wide, smooth dirt paths. The first half of the loop follows the Bluff Trail in the trees, and the second half of the loop utilizes the popular Arkansas Riverwalk, which offers continuous views of the Arkansas River. The cottonwoods should be in full fall color, and this is one of the best places in Canon City to see them.
Location: We will meet at Sells lake parking lot off 9th St. Here is a pin: 38°26'22.4"N 105°13'30.9"W
Bathroom: There are some porta potties along the trails, but not at the parking lot.
Difficulty: Easy
Distance: The walk is a loop of 2.1 miles that is flat, and on wide, groomed trails. Strollers and wheelchairs could go on this trail.
Elevation gain: 42 ft.
Dogs: Leashed dogs are allowed.
