Sitting on over 300 acres surrounded by Pikes Peak National Forest, YMCA Camp Shady Brook is the perfect setting to host our Live By Living inaugural retreat in the Southern Region. Camp Shady Brook is located at about 6800 feet above sea level. This is the lowest elevation of any of our retreats in 2024. It is suitable for people coming from sea level. We do recommend you arrive in Colorado a few days in advance of the retreat to begin acclimating to the altitude.
In addition to a guided nature hike on Friday, and two different hike options on Saturday, our Camp Shady Brook hosts will also offer optional sunrise yoga/meditation, as well as evening yoga. Rest assured; all practices can be adapted as needed to include all yogis that are interested in practicing together.
We will also have the opportunity to engage in group activities to include archery, a challenge course, as well as fun activities on the lake! Yes, canoeing and kayaking are included if you choose. This is a wonderful opportunity to sink-in and soak-in the healing power of nature, community and physical activity.
Bunkhouse-style lodging and shared restrooms are available for our group. You will need to please bring your own linens and towels, in addition to your appropriate outdoor attire. While yoga mats will be provided, you are invited to bring your own mat if you have one, as well as any other props; an extra blanket or two is encouraged.
We will enjoy customized, healthy meals prepared by Camp Shady Brook's executive chef, to include lunch and dinner on Friday; three meals on Saturday, and breakfast and lunch (on-site or grab-to-go) on Sunday.
Arrival time and check-in is Friday, May 10th, 9:00 am -10:30 am at Camp Shady Brook.
A recommended packing list will be shared as your registration is completed and participation is confirmed.
You will not want to miss this incredible opportunity to connect, recreate, and enjoy the transformative power of nature with your LBL tribe!
Please note:
1) If you want to bring a caregiver, each of you must register individually. When you register, it does not automatically register your caregiver.
2) People on the wait list often get to come on the retreat, provided they have submitted all of the required forms. Often, spots open up within a week or two of the trip.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Katie.
