Description: This segment of the Highline Canal Trail offers great views across McLellan Reservoir in addition to nice birding opportunities along the cottonwood-lined canal trail. There is an asphalt spur trail that offers a great view of tree-rimmed lake and the foothills all the way to Mount Blue Sky (formerly Mt. Evans). I’m guessing this is the “vista” from which the park drew its name. This side trail has a couple small hills that should be doable with wheelchairs with assistance. The main canal trail is dirt and pea-gravel surfaced that is very doable with a wheelchair. This section is a beautiful winding trail that also offers views of the reservoir and mountains.
