Hike into Health: Green Mountain west road

Public -by Daniel Miller  |  Walk/hike

Join Dan for a MODERATE-DIFFICULT 4 -mile hike with great views. Lakewood’s William F. Hayden Park, a/k/a/ Green Mountain, is a real suburban treasure. 2,400 acres of metro and mountain vistas. We can go clockwise or counterclockwise. The counterclockwise hike goes up the west side of the mountain, following the fire road. It's the beeline route to the summit, gaining about 750 feet of elevation in under a mile and a half. We'll save our knees on the descent by going down the Box o' Rocks trail. Total distance is about 4 miles. Going clockwise saves your lungs a bit, but be sure to bring your hiking poles for the descent down the road. We'll poll the group at the start to decide which way to go.

As always, Live By Living day hikes are open to all cancer survivors and their caregivers. Kids welcome, too! Regardless of whether you are currently in or out of treatment, we'd love to have you join us. Questions? Contact us.
